The Scratch Theatre

We’re proud to be part of Bristol’s creative community and now we’re opening the door even wider. Wherever you are in the world, request a monologue (around 2 1/2 minutes long), self-film it, and be added to the video installation or, if you're in Bristol, perform live. Let’s tell stories. Let’s plant trees. Let’s put something beautiful and urgent into the world, one voice at a time.

We Can Do Something: Why We Launched In 100 Voices

At The Scratch Theatre, we believe in the power of performance to shift conversations and build connection. Like many, our small team has felt the weight of the climate crisis and the helplessness that often comes with it. The problem can feel too big, too distant, too overwhelming. But instead of doing nothing, we asked: what can we do?

In 100 Voices was born from that question a bold experiment to write 100 short scripts, bring 100 performers on board, and plant 100 trees. One voice might not feel like much. But 100 voices? That’s a ripple. That’s a movement. That’s change.

We’re inviting anyone, anywhere, to take part. Whether you're an experienced actor or completely new to performing, you're welcome. Whether you're a writer, a supporter, or simply curious, you're welcome. Submit a monologue. Self-film a performance. Help create a digital installation powered by story, connection, and climate action.

All ticket sales will go toward planting trees but this is about more than fundraising. It’s about conversations that linger, performances that spark ideas, and a growing sense that together, we can do something.

We are The Scratch Theatre - We are theatre makers, performers, writers, set designers, mask makers, and people who care deeply about the world we live in. We’re a small, volunteer-led group brought together by a belief that theatre is a powerful tool for connection, reflection, and change.

Why We Tell Stories

We’ve created bold new work, run writing competitions, hosted monologue nights, and brought audiences to laughter, tears, and stillness. From sold-out community shows to intimate performances, we’ve seen the magic that happens when people come together to tell stories whether it’s about wizards, lost loved ones, or the planet we share.

Grassroots theatre has the power to empower people, spark confidence, and give voice to those who didn’t know they had one. That’s why we do what we do. Because when theatre changes minds, it changes the world.

Now, we’re bringing everything we’ve built into In 100 Voices and inviting you to be part of it. Let’s raise our voices. Let’s create something that lasts.
